The Indians/Red Sox American League Championship Series is becoming a big ratings draw for FOX.
Game 4, which Cleveland won 7-3, drew 12.3 million viewers on Tuesday night, helping FOX to a #2 finish for the night behind CBS. The 12.3 million viewers marks an 11% increase over the game on the comparable night last year, Game 5 of the NLCS between the Mets and Cardinals. Compared to the 2006 ALCS, the 12.3 million was a 60% increase over the 7.7 million viewers for Game 4 between the Athletics and Tigers. It should be pointed out that Game 4 of the 2006 ALCS aired on a Saturday afternoon.
The game drew more viewers than any game of the 2007 NBA Finals, and the final rounds of both the U.S. Open and PGA Championship — both of which saw Tiger Woods playing in the final pairing.
FOX won the night in the adults 18-49 demo, with a 3.7/10 rating.
Game 3 of the series on Monday night drew a 6.6 rating with 9.9 million viewers. The game outdrew the competing Monday Night Football telecast on ESPN by 16%.
