ESPN had such a good week of college football ratings, it warranted a press release.
The network today released the ratings from the holiday weekend, and college football on ESPN and ESPN2 drew hefty audiences on Thursday and Friday.
USC/Arizona State drew a 3.4 cable rating on Thanksgiving night, the highest college football rating on the holiday in fourteen years. The ratings for the Colts/Falcons game airing opposite on the NFL Network are currently unavailable. The 3.4 rating marks a 36% increase over the 2.5 cable rating for the comparable Boston College/Miami game last year.
Meanwhile, Boise State/Hawaii drew a surprisingly robust rating on ESPN2 Friday night. The battle between WAC powerhouses drew a 2.8 cable rating, the second-highest ever for a college football game on the Deuce. More broadly, the game finished as the sixth highest rated event in ESPN2 history, tying with the rain-delayed portion of a NASCAR race in September. The game edged the South Florida/West Virginia game from earlier this season as the highest rated Friday night game of the year.
