Games involving the #3, #4, #5 and #10 markets helped FOX and NBC to increased ratings on Sunday.
Washington’s victory against the Cowboys drew a 15.3/29 overnight rating on FOX, up 22% from a 12.5/24 for the comparable Broncos/Colts game last year, which aired on CBS. The 15.3 overnight is the highest of the season for an NFL telecast, edging a 15.2 overnight for Jets/Patriots in Week 2.
In Dallas, the game drew a 36.1, slightly higher than the 35.4 the game drew in Washington.
The early game on FOX drew a 9.7/20 overnight, down 8% from a 10.6/22 for singleheader coverage last year.
Meanwhile, NBC saw increased ratings for Sunday Night Football. Eagles/Bears drew a 12.3/20 overnight rating, up 14% from a 10.8/17 for Eagles/Giants in ’07. The game drew a 31.6/44 in Philadelphia and a 28.9/42 in Chicago. Football Night in America drew a 4.9 overnight from 7:30-8:15 PM, down a tick from a 5.0 last year, but not even close to the whopping 9.0/15 The OT drew on FOX.
CBS averaged a 7.5/15 overnight for its single game coverage on Sunday, down 9% from an 8.2/18 for coverage in the comparable timeslot last year.
