- Ratings for the start of the NBA season were solid in the #1 and #3 markets. In New York, the Knicks’ opener against the Heat drew a 1.45 rating on MSG Wednesday, up 101% from last year’s opening game. Meanwhile, in Chicago, the Bulls’ opener against the Bucks on Tuesday drew a 6.7 rating, making it the highest rated Bulls telecast since 2005.
- On the NFL front, Miami Dolphins telecasts are averaging a 19.3 rating in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market, up 10% from last year. The 10% increase is the third-biggest in the NFL, behind a 24% increase for the Atlanta Falcons and a 40% increase for the New York Jets. Jets games are averaging a 12.4 rating in New York, compared to an 8.9 last year.
- The conclusion to Game 5 of the World Series was not just a hit in Philadelphia and Tampa. The 90 minute telecast drew a whopping 19.0/27 rating in Boston, the highest rating of any non-home market. To put that in perspective, Celtics NBA Finals games averaged a 25.4 rating in Boston. The telecast also drew a 14.3 rating in New York, where Giants and Jets telecasts average ratings of 13.1 and 12.4, respectively.
