Sunday Night Baseball will add a new voice for the 2009 season.
ESPN is expected to announce that MLB analyst Steve Phillips will join Jon Miller and Joe Morgan in the booth for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball telecasts this season. Miller and Morgan have called Sunday Night Baseball together since 1990.
Peter Gammons, who has served as a reporter on Sunday Night Baseball telecasts in the past, will move back to the studio.
Phillips addition comes months after the New York Daily News reported that the Miller-Morgan team could break up for the ’09 season, thanks in part to “how unpopular Morgan [had] become with many of his ESPN colleagues.” The Daily News report speculated that Rick Sutciffe would be the “likely Sunday night replacement” for Morgan.
