Back to back stellar performances from two of the NBA’s biggest stars provided a jolt to the New York Knicks’ television ratings.
Monday night’s Lakers/Knicks game, which featured Lakers star Kobe Bryant scoring an MSG-record 61 points, drew a 2.09 rating on MSG in New York, at the time the highest rating for a Knicks telecast on the network since 2007.
That mark would not last very long. Wednesday night’s Cavaliers/Knicks game, featuring the Cavaliers’ LeBron James scoring 52 points as part of a triple-double, drew a 2.55 rating on MSG, the Knicks’ highest rating since a November 2004 game against the 76ers. Ratings peaked at a 3.49 from 9:15-10:15 PM.
So far this season, Knicks telecasts are averaging a 1.26 rating on MSG, up 17% from last year’s 1.08.
