A rematch of last year’s highly-rated Stanley Cup Finals gave NBC a double-digit boost.
The Red Wings’ 3-0 win over the Penguins on Sunday drew a 1.1/3 overnight rating on NBC, up 22% from a 0.9/2 for last year’s comparable Ducks/Red Wings telecast.
Since the Winter Classic, NBC has drawn a 1.1 overnight for both of its NHL telecasts. To put that into perspective, NBC drew a 1.1 overnight only two times all of last season, excluding the Winter Classic.
Through three games, NBC is averaging a 1.7 overnight for three NHL telecasts, up 13% from a 1.5 through three games in ’08.
