After three weeks of significantly lower ratings for NBA coverage, ABC finally bucked the trend on Sunday.
The Cavaliers’ blowout victory over the Mavericks drew a 2.2 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, up 22% from a 1.8 for last year’s comparable Rockets/Spurs game. This marks the first time since March 1 that ABC has seen increased ratings for an NBA telecast.
The 2.2 overnight rating is the best for an NBA game on broadcast opposite the NCAA Tournament since Mavericks/Timberwolves drew the same rating in ’03.
