- Chuck Daly: The Hall of Fame coach who led the Detroit Pistons to two NBA titles and the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball team to a gold medal passed away on Saturday at age 78. Daly, who also worked as an analyst for NBA telecasts on Turner in the late 1990s, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. During the NBA Playoffs, coaches and broadcasters have worn “CD” pins in honor of Daly.
- David Feherty: The CBS golf analyst is facing criticism for controversial comments made in a D Magazine article. In a piece on former President George W. Bush‘s move to Dallas, Feherty made this incendiary statement: “[I]f you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”
- Steve Smith: The NBA TV analyst will make his debut on sister network TNT Monday night. Smith will be the analyst for Nuggets/Mavericks Game 4, replacing P.J. Carlisemo. Smith called select games for NBA TV earlier in the playoffs, and served as an analyst for Atlanta Hawks telecasts prior to joining NBA TV.
