- ESPN Classic will televise the very first episode of SportsCenter on September 7 at 7 PM ET — 30 years to the minute after the program made its debut. ESPN Classic will air the inaugural episode of SportsCenter a total of four times on September 7, to mark the 30th anniversary of ESPN.
- Twenty percent of the NFL’s games could be blacked out this season, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. NFL rules stipulate that games that are not sold out “within 72 hours of kickoff cannot be broadcast locally,” and one-third of the league’s teams are reportedly having difficulty selling out. In particular, the Jaguars expect to have all 8 of their home games blacked out this season.
- The Clippers have agreed to a deal with FS Prime Ticket through the 2015-16 season. Under the deal, FS Prime Ticket will televise a minimum of 70 Clipper games each season, all in high definition. Sources told the Los Angeles Times that the deal “is worth substantially more than the $12.5 million a year in revenue the Clippers had received in their” previous television deal with Fox Sports and Los Angeles CW affiliate KTLA.
