After minuscule numbers last weekend, college basketball bounced back on CBS.
Saturday’s Texas/Connecticut game drew a 1.8 overnight rating on CBS, up 64% from Memphis/Tennessee on the comparable date last year (1.1), and up 260% from Illinois/Michigan St. last week (0.5).
The 1.8 overnight is tied as the second-highest of the season for a college basketball game on CBS, behind only Kansas/Tennessee earlier this month (3.1). That game aired immediately following a highly rated NFL playoff game.
Earlier in the day, regional action (Ohio St./West Virginia or Oregon St./Cal) drew a 1.4 overnight rating. There was no game in the comparable window last year.
The first game of the day, which also featured regional action (Mich. St/Minnesota or Mississippi St./Alabama), drew a 1.1 overnight.
All three games drew substantially higher overnights than last week’s matchups, which aired opposite NFL playoff games.
