- FOX will make a “strong bid” for the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games, according to FOX Sports CEO David Hill. During the last round of Olympic TV rights negotiations, NBC outbid FOX by nearly $1 billion for the 2010 and 2012 Olympics. Hill: “What we’ve always done is look at our economics and figured out what we were going to do. … Were we too cautious last time around? I don’t think we were. If (NBC) lost $200 million, what would we have done?” (Variety, via Sports Business Daily)
- YES Network and DirecTV will produce two Yankees/Mariners games in 3D this July. The games, the first Major League Baseball telecasts ever in 3D, will be made available to DirecTV subscribers with 3D televisions within the YES Network and FSN Northwest coverage areas. (Multichannel News)
- ESPN2 will air several episodes of ESPN.com’s MMA Live during the month of May, with weekly installments of the show airing on Fridays at 1 AM ET. The network will also air pre-and-post event editions of the show for UFC 113 on May 8 and UFC 114 on May 29. (ESPN)
