Sunday night’s battle between 7-8 and 6-9 teams earned one of NBC’s lowest Sunday Night Football overnights of the season.
The Seahawks’ playoff-clinching win over the Rams earned a 12.6 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, up 11% from Week 17 last year (CIN/NYJ: 11.4), and up 19% from Week 17 in 2008 (DEN/SD: 10.6).
The 12.6 overnight is the fourth-lowest of the season for Sunday Night Football, ahead of only the Cowboys 45-7 loss to the Packers in Week 9 (12.4), Steelers/Saints opposite the World Series in Week 8 (11.8), and the Michael Vick-less Eagles against the 0-4 49ers in Week 5 (11.7).
That said, the 12.6 is the highest for a Week 17 NFL game on NBC since the network resumed airing games in 2006, and the highest for the season finale of any NFL primetime window since 2002 (MIN/BAL: 13.4, ABC).
St. Louis (38.7) was the top market for Sunday’s game, followed by Seattle (35.4). New Orleans was the top neutral market (22.9), with Las Vegas (20.1) and Oklahoma City (19.0) rounding out the top five.
