While NBC and FOX earned some of the best NFL Wild Card overnights since the 1990s, CBS suffered a decline for its game.
The Ravens’ win over the Chiefs in Sunday’s AFC Wild Card game on CBS earned an 18.8 overnight rating — down 3% from last year (BAL/NE: 19.4), but up 11% from 2009 (BAL/MIA: 17.0).
Despite the drop, the 18.8 overnight is the highest for the early Sunday NFL Wild Card window since the 2003-04 season, behind only last year.
Additionally, this marks the highest overnight for a Wild Card game on CBS, regardless of timeslot, since the 2005-06 season (PIT/CIN: 19.9).
Ravens/Chiefs was the only Wild Card game to have a decline in overnight ratings. Not only were the other games up from last year, but each drew the best numbers in over a decade.
Packers/Eagles drew the highest overnight for any Wild Card game in 20 years, Saints/Seahawks drew the highest overnight for the early Saturday Wild Card window in 20 years, and Jets/Colts drew the highest overnight for any Saturday Wild Card window in 12 years.
