With much-hyped rookie Robert Griffin III taking on the New York Giants in half of the country, the NFL singleheader earned strong numbers for FOX Sunday afternoon.
The Week 7 NFL singleheader window, featuring Washington/Giants in 50% of TV markets, earned a 12.8 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 21% from coverage on CBS last year (10.6), and up 20% from coverage featuring Washington/Bears in 2010 (10.7).
The 12.8 overnight is the second-highest of the season for the NFL singleheader window, trailing only coverage featuring Cowboys/Seahawks in Week 3 (13.3).
The singleheader window crushed regional NFL action on CBS head-to-head (7.2), and also outdrew NBC’s Steelers/Bengals “Sunday Night Football” game (11.7).
So far this season, the four singleheader telecasts on FOX have each drawn higher overnights (13.3, 12.2, 12.5 and 12.8) than the three windows on CBS (10.4, 10.4 and 11.5).
