ESPN Suspends Simmons From Twitter, According to Report
- ESPN has suspended ESPN.com writer Bill Simmons from the social networking website Twitter over critical comments he made about “ESPN First Take,” Deadspin reported Thursday. The suspension, which will be lifted Friday, began just days after a series of ‘tweets’ in which Simmons called a segment on the show “awful and embarrassing.” (Deadspin)
ESPN Announces Lewis Hire
- In a move first reported by Sports Illustrated in January, ESPN has officially announced the hiring of former NFL LB Ray Lewis. Lewis will primarily contribute to “Monday Night Countdown” — appearing from the site of the game along with Stuart Scott, Trent Dilfer, and Steve Young — and will also appear on “Sunday NFL Countdown,” “SportsCenter,” and assorted specials. Lewis appeared on “SportsCenter” as a guest Wednesday, but is not scheduled to make his official debut until August 1. (ESPN Media Zone)
Ewing to Make Appearances on MSG Network
- Former New York Knicks C Patrick Ewing will serve as a guest studio analyst for Knicks postgame coverage on MSG Network twice this month, the network announced Wednesday.
