- ESPN has fired NFL analyst Hugh Douglas in the wake of his much-publicized altercation with “Numbers Never Lie” colleague Michael Smith, Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday. According to reports, an inebriated Douglas used racial epithets against Smith during a verbal altercation on August 2. He had not appeared on ESPN since the incident. (SI.com)
Fox Sports Offers Norman U.S. Open Gig
- Fox Sports has offered retired golfer Greg Norman the lead analyst position for its coverage of the U.S. Open, Golf Week reported over the weekend. Norman has requested a face-to-face meeting with Fox exec David Hill to “see if it will work for me.” Norman: “One, I need to understand the time requirements and two, the expectations.” Fox Sports will begin televising the U.S. Open in 2015. Cohn Signs Extension With ESPN
- ESPN announced Tuesday that “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn has signed a multi-year contract extension with the network.
