Tiger Woods‘ eighth victory at the Bridgestone Invitational was also his second-lowest rated in the metered markets.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Bridgestone Invitational drew a 3.8 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 138% from last year’s coverage opposite the Olympics (1.6), and up 31% from 2011 (2.9).
The 3.8 overnight is the highest for the final round of the Bridgestone Invitational since Woods’ most recent victory in 2009 (4.7), but also ranks as the second-lowest for any of Woods’ eight wins at the tournament. Only his 2007 victory (3.5) earned a lower overnight.
For the season, the 3.8 ranks as the third-highest overnight for any non-major golf telecast, trailing only final round coverage of Woods’ victories at the WGC-CA Championship (4.4) and The Players’ Championship (5.7).
Keep in mind that Time Warner Cable subscribers in several large markets — including New York (#1), Los Angeles (#2), and Chicago (#3) — were unable to watch the telecast due to a conflict between the cable provider and CBS.
Third round coverage on Saturday earned a 3.0 overnight, up 173% from last year (1.1) and up 50% from 2011 (2.0).
