Some of the highest-profile NFL teams — for better or worse — failed to lift overnight ratings in week ten.
The Week 10 Cowboys/Saints “Sunday Night Football” game drew a 13.0 overnight rating on NBC, down 5% from Texans/Bears last year (13.7), and down 10% from Patriots/Jets in 2011 (14.5). The 13.0 is the lowest Week 10 overnight for “SNF” since Giants/Eagles in 2008 (12.4).
Cowboys/Saints also ranks as the fourth-lowest rated “SNF” game of the season in the metered markets, ahead of only Texans/49ers in Week 5 (11.6), Colts/Texans in Week 9 (11.4), and Packers/Vikings in Week 8 (9.9).
Earlier in the day, the NFL national window — featuring Broncos/Chargers in 91% of markets — earned a 14.8 overnight, down 9% from coverage featuring Cowboys/Eagles on FOX last year (16.2), and down 14% from coverage featuring Giants/49ers on FOX in 2011 (17.2).
The 14.8 is the second-lowest of the season for the NFL national window, ahead of only Week 3 coverage on CBS (14.6).
The first game of the CBS doubleheader had a 9.8 overnight, up 17% from coverage on FOX featuring Giants/Bengals last year (8.4), and up 8% from coverage on FOX featuring Saints/Falcons in 2011 (9.1).
On FOX, singleheader coverage featuring Packers/Eagles and Panthers/49ers drew a 12.3 overnight — up 17% from coverage on CBS last year (10.5), and up 3% from coverage on CBS in 2011 (11.9).
Finally, the Dolphins/Buccaneers “Monday Night Football” game drew a 7.9 overnight, down 12% from Chiefs/Steelers last year (9.0), and down 14% from Vikings/Packers in 2011 (9.2). The 7.9 is the third-lowest of the season for a Monday night game, ahead of only Texans/Chargers in Week 1 (7.7) and Seahawks/Rams in Week 8 (7.6).
