ESPN has announced new roles for several executives. In other news, CBS college football anchor Tim Brando has departed the network, and ESPN’s Jay Bilas and Jeff Van Gundy will work together on NBA and college basketball games this week.
ESPN Announces Executive Shake-Up
- ESPN announced Tuesday a slew of personnel changes that will see several executives take on new or modified roles. Among the notable changes, executive V.P. of production John Wildhack will now oversee both the production and programming departments, senior V.P. of college sports programming Burke Magnus has assumed responsibilities for all ESPN acquisitions, and senior V.P. of content Rob King will now supervise “SportsCenter” and ESPN’s newsgathering operations. Tim Brando Leaves CBS
- CBS college football host Tim Brando has departed the network. According to Sports Business Daily, Brando has been exploring opportunities with other networks. Brando had been with CBS since 1995, following an eight-year stint as an ESPN anchor (1986-94) and one year covering the NBA Playoffs for TNT (1994). (Sports Business Daily)
Bilas to Call NBA; Van Gundy to Call College
- ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas will call Friday’s Clippers/Knicks NBA regular season game alongside ESPN NBA broadcast Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy. In return, Van Gundy will join Bilas and Sean McDonough on Monday’s North Carolina/Virginia college basketball telecast.
