The 2014 Sochi Olympics ended with another low overnight rating Sunday night.
The Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympics earned a 9.5 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, up 11% from Saturday night (8.6), and up a tick from Friday night (9.4). The 9.5 is the third-lowest of the Sochi Olympics, and likely the third-lowest ever for any primetime Olympics telecast.
Overnights were not available for the Closing Ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, but the 2006 Turin Closing Ceremony had a 9.9 overnight.
Sunday’s overnight does not include the 90-minute “Nancy & Tonya” documentary that began NBC’s coverage. The documentary had an 8.2 overnight rating.
Not helping matters Sunday night was unexpected competition from the Daytona 500, which was pushed into primetime due to a lengthy rain delay.
