Fox Sports is going with a three-man booth for Major League Baseball coverage.
The Big Lead reported Thursday night that Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci will join Joe Buck on Fox Sports’ lead MLB broadcast team. Reynolds and Verducci replace Tim McCarver, who retired at the end of last season.
Reynolds has worked for MLB Network in recent seasons, while Verducci has worked for both MLB Network and TBS.
When reached by The Big Lead, Fox Sports did not provide comment.
The 2014 season, the first of baseball’s new TV deal, will include another major change to Fox Sports’ MLB coverage. Most of the games will shift to Fox Sports 1, with the FOX broadcast network scheduled to air just 12 telecasts.
In the MLB on FOX schedule released Thursday, FS1 is scheduled to air games all season — starting with a Twins/Indians and Giants/Dodgers doubleheader on April 5. FOX, by contrast, will not begin its coverage until Memorial Day weekend, when it begins its now-traditional summer run of eight-straight primetime telecasts.
After the All-Star Break, FOX will not air another MLB telecast until September. There will be two full months of the season — April and August — in which no baseball games will air on broadcast television.
