Major League Baseball has named a replacement for the outgoing Bud Selig. In other news, Showtime’s Inside the NFL has had a cast overhaul, and NFL Network’s Rich Eisen is getting a new show.
Manfred to Replace Selig As MLB Commissioner
- Major League Baseball COO Rob Manfred was unanimously selected by the 30 team owners to replace Bud Selig as commissioner. Manfred, who was the owners’ lead negotiator during collective bargaining talks in 2011, will officially take over on January 25 of next year. (USA Today)
Inside the NFL Gets New Cast
- Showtime has overhauled the studio team for Inside the NFL. Greg Gumbel has replaced CBS colleague James Brown as host, Boomer Esiason will fill the vacancy left by Cris Collinsworth, and active players Brandon Marshall and Ed Reed round out the newcomers. Eisen to Host New Talk Show
- NFL Network host Rich Eisen will host a new daily talk show on DirecTV’s Audience Network beginning this fall. The Rich Eisen Show, which will air directly after The Dan Patrick Show, will last three hours and air from the DirecTV studios in Los Angeles. Eisen has also reached an agreement on a contract extension with NFL Network. (Hollywood Reporter)
