Overnight ratings declined by double-digits for the PGA Tour Bridgestone Invitational, but the numbers were not bad.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Bridgestone Invitational earned a 3.0 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 21% from Tiger Woods‘ victory last year (3.8), but up 88% from coverage opposite the Olympics in 2012 (1.6).
The 3.0 is tied as the fifth-lowest for final round coverage of the event since it began its current format in 1999 (16 telecasts). With that said, it marks the best overnight for any golf telecast since the final round of the U.S. Open on NBC (3.3) — even topping the final round of the British Open on ESPN (2.6).
Compared to other marquee non-majors, the Bridgestone Invitational finished ahead of The Players Championship (2.6), The Memorial (2.2), and the tournaments at Torrey Pines (2.3) and Congressional (1.8).
Saturday’s third round coverage drew a 1.9 overnight, down 37% from last year (3.0) and up 73% from 2012 (1.1).
