ESPN hit a second-straight season low for Sunday Night Baseball. In other news, IndyCar viewership was still up big on NBCSN entering the season finale, and Formula 1 viewership has also increased substantially on the NBC family of networks.
New Season Low For Sunday Night Baseball
- Last week’s Angels/Athletics Sunday Night Baseball game drew a 0.7 U.S. rating and 1.0 million viewers on ESPN, down 46% in ratings and viewership from Red Sox/Dodgers last year (1.3, 1.9M) and easily the least-viewed Sunday night game of the season. The previous low was set one week earlier by another A’s game — against the Braves (1.4M). Keep in mind last week’s telecast aired opposite NFL preseason action on NBC. Last Sunday’s race from Sonoma drew 377,000 viewers, actually down 4% from last year (391K) and the network’s first decline since Iowa in July. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
F1 Viewership Also Up Big on NBC Networks
- The Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix earned 435,000 viewers on NBCSN last Sunday, up 70% from last year (256K). F1 coverage has averaged 481,000 viewers across NBC and NBCSN so far this season, up 41% (340K). (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
