The gap narrowed from the overnights, but final numbers for Monday Night Football still trailed last year.
The Week 7 Steelers/Texans Monday Night Football game drew an 8.1 final rating and 13.3 million viewers on ESPN, down 4% in ratings and up a fraction of a percent in viewership compared to Vikings/Giants last year (8.4, 13.2M) and up 23% and 24%, respectively, from Lions/Bears opposite the NLCS and a presidential debate in 2012 (6.6, 10.7M).
The Steelers’ win was just the third MNF telecast this season to have a decline in ratings, with two of those three games down by just double-digits.
Among adults 18-49, the game had a 4.8 rating — down a tick from last year (4.9) and up 7% from 2012 (4.5).
Monday Night Football has averaged an 8.3 rating on ESPN through Week 7, down 2% from last year (8.5) and down 4% from 2012 (8.6). Average viewership is up a fraction of a percent from last year (from 13.35M to 13.36M) and down a fraction of a percent from 2012 (from 13.42M to 13.36M). ESPN Deportes has chipped in 87,000 viewers for its MNF coverage, up 85%.
