The Minnesota Wild have been lighting up the local TV ratings recently. In other news, local ratings have declined for Indiana Pacers games, and ESPN turned in a solid audience for a PBA event that took place last month.
Wild Ratings Hot on FS North, NBCSN
- Minnesota Wild NHL regular season games have averaged a 4.53 rating on Fox Sports North so far in February, on pace to rank as the network’s highest rated month ever. Tuesday’s Oilers/Wild game drew a 6.13 rating on the network, its highest for a Wild telecast, excluding the 2012-13 lockout shortened season. Thursday’s Wild/Predators game, which aired exclusively on NBCSN, drew a 6.25 rating in the market — its second-highest ever for a regular season game on the network (previously VERSUS and OLN). Pacers Local Ratings Down 35%
- Through 56 telecasts, Fox Sports Midwest has averaged a 2.9 rating for Indiana Pacers regular season games — down 35% from last year (4.4) and the third-largest year-over-year decline in the NBA. The Pacers finished last season with the best record in the East, but have struggled this season due to injury. (Indianapolis Business Journal via Sports Business Daily)
Despite Month-Long Delay, Taped PBA Solid on ESPN
- Coverage of the Professional Bowlers Association Players Championship, which took place in late January, drew a 0.6 final rating and 813,000 viewers on ESPN last Sunday — ranking fifth in viewership out of the network’s 11 telecasts this season. The past four PBA telecasts on ESPN have topped 800,000 viewers, after just one of the previous seven topped that mark. (via Awful Announcing)
