Ratings have increased by double-digits for the NBA-leading Golden State Warriors. In other news, the Cavaliers generated yet another increase on national TV, and CBS had mixed numbers for its college basketball coverage.
Warriors Ratings Up Double-Digits Through Break
- Golden State Warriors NBA games have averaged a 3.81 rating on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area through the All-Star break, up 22% from the comparable point last year (3.13) and up 42% from the comparable point of the 2012-13 season (2.68). The first half included the Warriors’ highest rated regular season game on the network, a December matchup with the Rockets that drew a 6.43. (csnbayarea.com)
Another Increase For the Cavaliers
- Thursday’s Cavaliers/Bulls NBA regular season game drew 2.1 million viewers on TNT, up 40% from Nets/Bulls last year (1.5M) but down 38% from Heat/Thunder in 2013 (3.4M). Of the 16 Cavaliers games that can be compared to last year, 15 have had increases in viewership. That compares to just 14 of 63 non-Cavaliers games. On Wednesday, ESPN drew 1.6 million for Heat/Cavaliers and 1.4 million for Rockets/Clippers; there were no comparable games last year. (via TV By the Numbers [1], [2])
