TNT ended a successful PGA Championship with another multi-year high.
Final round coverage of the PGA Championship drew a 1.3 rating and 1.8 million viewers on TNT Sunday afternoon, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — up 44% in ratings and 53% in viewership from last year (0.9, 1.2M), up a tick and 11%, respectively, from 2013 (1.2, 1.6M) and the network’s highest rated and most-watched final round since 2010 (1.6, 2.3M).
The telecast marked the third time in four days that TNT hit a multi-year high for the PGA Championship. The network’s first round coverage was also the most-watched since 2010, and its abbreviated second round telecast was the most-watched since 2009.
Saturday’s third round action was the lone exception, but it still had a solid increase over last year. The telecast drew a 1.1 and 1.5 million, up 22% in ratings and 27% in viewership from last year (0.9, 1.2M) but down a tick and 8%, respectively, from 2013 (1.2, 1.7M).
TNT’s complete coverage of the PGA Championship averaged a 1.2 rating and 1.6 million viewers, up 20% in ratings and 28% in viewership from last year, and the network’s most-watched edition of the tournament since 2010.
West Palm Beach (2.8), Milwaukee (2.7), Ft. Myers, FL (2.3) and Columbus (2.2) were the top markets for TNT’s four days of coverage, with Orlando, San Diego, Oklahoma City, Jacksonville and Memphis rounding out the top five (2.1 for each). On Sunday specifically, Milwaukee topped the charts with a 4.0 rating — followed by Columbus (3.0), Memphis and San Diego (2.9 in both markets), and New Orleans (2.7).
