The Cowboys/Giants rivalry delivered its smallest audience on FOX in seven years.
The Week 7 Cowboys/Giants NFL national window drew a 14.4 final rating and 24.5 million viewers on FOX Sunday afternoon, down 8% in ratings and 9% in viewership from coverage featuring the same matchup last year (15.6, 27.0M) and down 3% in both measures from coverage on CBS featuring Ravens/Steelers in 2013 (14.8, 25.3M).
The game ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched Cowboys/Giants game on FOX since November 2008 (14.3, 23.3M), and the rivals’ second-lowest on any network in exactly five years — since October 2010 on ESPN (11.2, 18.0M). Their first meeting of the season, in Week 1 on NBC, had a stronger 15.4 and 26.8 million.
In addition, ratings and viewership were the lowest for the Week 7 NFL national window since 2012 and the third-lowest for any national window this season.
Despite the relatively low numbers, the Giants’ win was the top game of Week 7 on any network — topping Sunday Night Football in ratings (14.4 to 12.2), viewership (24.5M to 20.6M) and the adults 18-49 demographic (8.1 to 7.6). This is just the second time that the national window has swept all three measures this season.
Final ratings and viewership were not available for the early doubleheader window, which featured Saints/Colts.
