Despite the absence of Ben Roethlisberger and the Ravens’ winless record, Thursday Night Football scored another increase in the overnights.
The Week 4 Ravens/Steelers Thursday Night Football game had a 13.0 overnight rating on CBS and NFL Network, up 16% from Giants/Washington last year (11.2) and up 117% from 49ers/Rams on NFL Network and local affiliates in 2013 (6.0). The overnight peaked at a 14.7 from 11:30-11:45 PM ET.
The Ravens’ overtime win scored the fourth-highest overnight in the history of Thursday Night Football, trailing only Broncos/Chiefs two weeks earlier (14.3), Chiefs/Broncos in Week 8 of last year (13.6) and Steelers/Ravens in Week 2 of last year (13.7). Keep in mind that while TNF dates back to 2006, this is only the second season games have aired on CBS.
All seven primetime NFL windows on broadcast television this season have had an increase in overnight ratings, with five of those up by double-digits.
So far this season, TNF has averaged a 13.2 rating in the metered markets — up 19% from last year (11.1).
