ESPN’s Heather Cox is apparently the latest to leave the network. In other news, the Dodgers’ Vin Scully has declined an offer to work the All-Star Game on FOX, and NBC’s Hines Ward has joined CNN.
Cox Reportedly Leaving ESPN
- ESPN sideline reporter Heather Cox is “expected to leave the network” to join NBC Sports, The Big Lead reported Wednesday. Cox, who joined ESPN in 1994, was part of the network’s top college football broadcast team from 2012 until last season. Just days ago, ESPN announced that Samantha Ponder would replace her in that role. Cox also roamed the sidelines on ESPN’s pro and college basketball coverage, typically working NBA games with Mike Tirico — who is also NBC-bound. (The Big Lead)
Scully Turns Down All Star Offer
- Retiring Los Angeles Dodgers voice Vin Scully turned down an offer by Fox Sports to do play-by-play on the MLB All-Star Game, Sports Illustrated reported Wednesday. Scully, who has turned down similar offers by FOX before, was reportedly “very appreciative” but “felt it was not his place to be in someone else’s broadcast booth.” (Sports Illustrated)
Ward Joins CNN
- NBC Sports football analyst Hines Ward has joined CNN and sister network Headline News, it was announced Wednesday. Ward will primarily serve as a sports contributor on the HLN morning show Morning Express, but will also appear across CNN platforms. (TV Newser)
