As has been the case for most of the past three months, ratings dipped for the PGA Tour on broadcast last weekend.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour National earned a 1.8 final rating and 2.7 million viewers on CBS last Sunday afternoon, down 14% in ratings and viewership from last year (2.1, 3.1M) but up 13% and 20%, respectively, from 2014 (1.6, 2.3M).
Sunday’s telecast marked the eighth time in 12 weeks that ratings have dropped for final round PGA Tour coverage (excludes rainout coverage from New Orleans). Six of those declines have been by double-digits.
Despite the lower numbers, the 1.8 rating ranks fairly well historically. Excluding years in which Tiger Woods won, it tied the third-highest mark for final round coverage of the event (dates back to 2007).
Third round action last Saturday drew a 1.2 and 1.7 million, down 29% in ratings and 31% in viewership from last year (1.7, 2.5M) but up 9% and 13%, respectively, from 2014 (1.1, 1.5M).
