The United States women’s soccer team continues to deliver for NBCSN. In other news, the Olympics has gotten off to a strong start on CNBC, and MLB Network owned the weekend’s largest MLB audience.
USWNT Draw Outdraws All-But-One 2012 Match
- Tuesday’s USA/Colombia Olympic women’s soccer match earned 3.6 million viewers on NBCSN, topping every U.S. match in 2012 except for the final (4.4M). The 2-2 draw topped all-but-one of last year’s U.S. Women’s World Cup matches on Fox Sports 1, the lone exception being USA/Colombia in the round of 16 (4.7M). All three USWNT matches have posted increases over 2012.
Olympics Performing Well on CNBC
- CNBC scored 846,000 for coverage of the Olympics late Monday afternoon, the network’s largest Summer Games audience in the window, according to NBC. On Tuesday, the network scored 779,000 viewers — up 66% from the comparable day in 2012. CNBC outdelivered MSNBC on both days, which fell shy of 500,000 for early afternoon coverage.
MLB Network Leads Weekend MLB Viewership
- With ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball taking the week off, MLB Network scored a 0.3 final rating and 473,000 viewers for Red Sox/Dodgers on Sunday night — the largest MLB audience of the weekend. The same matchup earned a 0.2 and 316,000 on Fox Sports 1 the previous day, down 50% in ratings and 39% in viewership from Dodgers/Pirates last year (0.4, 516K) and down 50% and 49%, respectively, from Yankees/Red Sox in 2014 (0.4, 616K). Wrapping up the weekend, TBS had a 0.2 (-60%) and 295,000 (-55%) for Giants/Nationals Sunday afternoon.
