A game that put the ‘garbage’ in ‘garbage time’ hit a multi-year low on NBC.
The Week 4 Chiefs/Steelers Sunday Night Football game earned an 11.0 overnight rating on NBC, down 26% from Cowboys/Saints last year (14.8), down 20% from Saints/Cowboys in 2014 (13.7) and the lowest SNF overnight in Week 4 of the season since Eagles/Giants in 2007 (10.8).
The Steelers’ blowout win, which included the most lopsided first quarter on SNF since 2007, scored the series’ lowest overnight in any week of the season in nearly three years — since Bengals/Steelers in Week 15 of the 2013 season (10.9).
All five NFL telecasts on NBC this season have posted a decline in the overnights, with Sunday’s 26% drop the largest thus far. Four of the five games have hit multi-year lows.
Pittsburgh led all markets for Sunday’s game with a 43.3 rating, followed by Kansas City (26.7). Richmond, VA (16.4) was the top neutral market, with Dayton, OH (15.8) and Norfolk, VA (15.7) rounding out the top five.
