Collegiate Bowl Hits 5-Year Low in FS1 Debut
- The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl had a 0.1 final rating and 178,000 viewers in its debut on Fox Sports 1 Saturday afternoon, down 67% in ratings and 64% in viewership from last year (0.3, 497K), down 75% and 64% respectively from 2015 (0.4, 499K), which both aired on ESPN2. It was the smallest audience for the game since the inaugural edition had 143,000 on NBCSN in 2012. Airing concurrently on NFL Network, the East-West Shrine Game had a 0.2 and 381,000, down a tick in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year (0.3, 422K) but flat and up 52% respectively from 2015 (0.2, 252K).
Rangers/Red Wings Dips on NBC
- Rangers/Red Wings earned a 0.8 final rating and 1.2 million viewers on the NHL on NBC Sunday afternoon, down a tick in ratings and 17% in viewership from Rangers/Penguins in 2015 (0.9, 1.5M). There was no comparable game last year. Shifting to NBCSN, Sharks/Avalanche had 183,000 viewers on Monday (-36%) and Blues/Penguins 219,000 on Tuesday (-2%).
PGA Down on Golf Channel Last Weekend
- Third round coverage of the PGA Tour event formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic scored 635,000 viewers on Golf Channel Saturday afternoon, down 6% from last year (679K) and down 9% from 2015 (694K). The 0.4 final rating dropped a tick from both years (0.5). Final round coverage on Sunday pulled a smaller audience opposite the NFL’s conference championship games, with 372,000 tuning in — down 5% from last year (392K) and down a whopping 66% from 2015, when the tournament did not face NFL competition (1.1M).
