On a competitive — though not highly rated — Saturday night, Premier Boxing Champions held its own.
The latest edition of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX delivered a 1.2 final rating and 1.9 million viewers Saturday night, up a tick in ratings and 6% in viewership from the network’s previous telecast last July (1.1, 1.8M) and the most-watched boxing telecast on any network since a post-Olympic PBC card on NBC last August (3.1, 4.8M).
The telecast peaked with 2.6 million viewers for the Deontay Wilder–Gerald Washington main event from 10-10:15 PM ET.
Head-to-head, the PBC eked out a higher rating than the NHL Stadium Series on NBC (1.1) though the hockey game had a larger audience (1.92M to 1.86M) and a better rating in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.5). It trailed the NBA on ABC (1.5, 2.4M, 0.8 A18-49) and college basketball on ESPN (1.2, 2.1M, 0.65 A18-49) in all three measures.
Birmingham, Wilder’s hometown, led all markets with a whopping 7.6 rating. Detroit was a distant second at a 3.0.
In other action, Fox Sports 1 scored 357,000 for additional PBC coverage Saturday night, the network’s largest audience yet for the series.
