Sager Receives Posthumous Emmy
- Turner Sports reporter Craig Sager, who passed away in December after a three-year battle with leukemia, won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Reporter Tuesday, his first time receiving the honor. He was previously nominated in 2012. Sager spent 26 seasons as an NBA sideline reporter for Turner Sports, his most memorable role in a 35-year career with Turner Broadcasting. Chris Berman’s Wife Killed in Crash
- The wife of ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman, Kathy, was killed in a car accident Tuesday afternoon. She was 67. The two had been married for 33 years and have two children. A graduate of UConn, Kathy Berman spent 15 years an elementary school teacher in the Waterbury public school system in Connecticut. (Hartford Courant 5.10)
Gonzalez to FOX, Lofton Fills Wilcots Vacancy on CBS
- Former CBS Sports NFL studio analyst Tony Gonzalez has joined Fox Sports in the same capacity, it was announced Wednesday. Gonzalez will contribute to the Fox NFL Kickoff pregame show, which airs prior to the network’s primary studio show, Fox NFL Sunday. In other NFL news, CBS Sports has cut ties with game analyst Solomon Wilcots and hired Pro Football Hall of Famer James Lofton to the same position. (Fox Sports; Twitter 5.7, 5.10)
