ESPN’s lead MLB voice is stepping down from Sunday Night Baseball. In other news, Bruce Feldman has found a new home for his writing, and Ken Rosenthal‘s writing future is not yet settled.
Dan Shulman Leaving Sunday Night Baseball
- ESPN play-by-play voice Dan Shulman is stepping down from Sunday Night Baseball at the end of the season, Sports Illustrated reported Monday. Shulman, who replaced Jon Miller as the voice of SNB in 2011, will assume a reduced MLB workload for ESPN but continue working his regular slate of college basketball games. Shulman told SI that the move was his decision and not related to ESPN’s recent layoffs. [SI.com 7.3]
Feldman to Write For SI
- Fox Sports reporter Bruce Feldman, who stopped writing for the company after his contract expired earlier this year, has joined Sports Illustrated as a college football writer. He announced the move on his Twitter feed Monday. As previously noted, Feldman will continue working for Fox Sports in a television role. [Bruce Feldman/Twitter 7.3]
Rosenthal’s Writing Future Murky
- Fox Sports MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal does not know whether he will continue writing for the outlet, saying on his Twitter feed that he cannot speak to the company’s decision to eliminate written content from its website, and that he will “hopefully resume” writing soon. Rosenthal has a prominent television role on Fox MLB coverage. Based on the Feldman model, he could continue in an on-air role for the company while finding a writing position somewhere else.
