NBC’s Sunday Night Football ratings are on a rare winning streak.
Eagles-Seahawks scored an 11.3 rating and 19.7 million viewers on NBC Sunday night, up 11% in ratings and viewership from Raiders-Chiefs last year (10.5, 17.4M) and up 2% and 3% respectively from Colts-Steelers in 2015 (11.1, 19.2M).
Seattle’s win was the third-straight Sunday night game to post an increase in ratings and viewership, and the second of three to hit a multi-year high.
Of the 13 Sunday night games this season, seven have posted an increase in ratings and six have done so in viewership.
In the young adult demographics, SNF ratings increased 5% in adults 18-49 (from 6.1 to 6.4), 4% in adults 25-54 (from 7.2 to 7.5) and 6% in adults 18-34 (from 4.8 to 5.1).
Seattle led all markets with a 45.6 rating, followed by Philadelphia (35.3). Portland ranked third (21.6), Richmond, Va., led all neutral markets in fourth (20.1), and New Orleans rounded out the top five (18.6).
While Sunday Night Football has had a good couple of weeks, the same cannot be said for TV’s other Sunday night fixture, AMC’s The Walking Dead. Last weekend’s new episode declined 29% in viewership (from 10.5M to 7.5M), 34% in adults 18-49 (from 4.95 to 3.28), 29% in adults 25-54 (5.3 to 3.78) and a whopping 45% in adults 18-34 (4.34 to 2.37).
