FOX NFL ratings took a hit in Week 7; the F1 U.S. Grand Prix fell from last year’s high; Skate America took a hit on NBC.
NFL Ratings: Singleheader Hits Week 7 Low
The Week 7 NFL singleheader, featuring Panthers-Eagles in 45% of markets or Saints-Ravens in 22%, had a 9.0 rating and 15.0 million viewers on FOX — down 5% in ratings and 7% in viewership from last year (ft. Cowboys-49ers: 9.5, 16.1M) and down 11% in both measures from 2016 (ft. Vikings-Eagles: 10.1, 16.9M).
It was the lowest rated Week 7 singleheader since 2009 (6.4) and the least-watched since 2010 (14.9M).
In addition, it ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched singleheader on FOX this season (four telecasts). The previous three each had a double-digit rating and at least 17 million viewers. The full list of 2018 NFL ratings is available here.
F1 USGP Down From Last Year’s High
Sunday’s Formula 1 United States Grand Prix earned a 0.5 rating and 805,000 viewers on ABC, down 21% in ratings and 24% in viewership from last year (0.65, 1.05M), but flat and up 10% respectively from 2016 (0.5, 727K). Those races aired on NBC.
Last year’s F1 GP was the most-watched on record.
Skate America Down Big on NBC
Taped coverage of the men’s competition at Skate America, part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, earned a 0.5 rating and 707,000 viewers on NBC Sunday. Compared to the men’s competition last year, which aired live on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, ratings fell a third (from 0.75) and viewership 39% (from 1.15M).
Figures for the women’s free skate, which aired live on NBCSN Sunday, were not available. Last year’s live coverage on NBC had a 0.9 and 1.46 million.
