Ratings for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final were no match for last year’s clincher.
Thursday’s Blues-Bruins Stanley Cup Final Game 5 earned a 3.1 rating and 5.45 million viewers on NBC, down 21% in ratings and 17% in viewership from Capitals-Golden Knights last year (3.9, 6.59M), but up 19% and 24% respectively from Predators-Penguins in 2017 (2.6, 4.38M).
The Blues’ win, which peaked with 6.27 million viewers from 10:45-11 PM ET, trails only last year as the highest rated and most-watched Game 5 of the Cup Final since 2014 (Rangers-Kings: 3.7, 6.02M). Go back further and it ranks a middle-of-the-road sixth out of the last 12 Game 5 telecasts (dating back to 2008).
Regardless of game, it ranks as the fourth-most watched Stanley Cup Final telecast since 2015 (22 total).
Including the streaming audience of 117,000, the game had 5.57 million viewers — down 17% from last year (6.71M) but up 25% from 2017 (4.44M).
Three of the five Blues-Bruins games have declined from Capitals-Golden Knights last year, which was the most-watched Stanley Cup Final since 2015.
Game 5 had a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49, down 23% from last year (2.2) but up 13% from 2017 (1.5). It also scored a 1.3 in adults 18-34, down 24% from last year (1.7) but up a tick from 2017 (1.2).
