Ratings continue to slide for the NHL All-Star Game.
Last Saturday’s NHL All-Star Game averaged a 1.0 rating and 1.70 million viewers on NBC, marking the lowest rated and least-watched edition of the game since it last aired on NBCSN in 2016 (0.9, 1.60M).
The game declined a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (1.1, 1.78M) and 17% and 16% respectively from 2018 (1.2, 2.03M). Since hitting a 1.3 and 2.26 million in 2017, ratings and viewership have declined in three straight years.
It was still the fourth-most watched NHL All-Star Game since 2004, but that comes with the caveat that it was just the fourth edition to air on broadcast television over that span.
As one would expect, the All-Star Game was no match for the competing Lakers-Sixers NBA game on ABC (1.9, 2.99M). Nor could it come close to any of the other “Big Four” All-Star games. It did beat the MLS edition last summer (808K).
In other action, last Friday’s NHL SuperSkills Competition averaged a 0.48 and 835,000 on NBCSN — up 37% in ratings and 36% in viewership from last year (0.35, 612K), but down 16% and 11% respectively from 2018 (0.50, 942K).
Despite the bump, the event topped only last year and 2017 (781K) as the least-watched since 2008 (665K).
