For the second time in less than a week, the Philadelphia Eagles played in the highest rated window of the NFL season.
Sunday’s NFL national window on CBS, featuring Bills-Eagles in most markets, averaged a 15.2 rating and 30.90 million viewers on CBS — topping Eagles-Chiefs on Monday Night Football six days earlier (14.9) as the highest rated telecast of the NFL season. The 15.2 rating is also the highest for any regular season NFL window since 2019, when the coverage featuring Chiefs-Patriots averaged a 16.1.
In addition to the ratings high, the telecast ranks third for the season in viewership — trailing only the Thanksgiving afternoon games three days earlier (Commanders-Cowboys: 41.76M; Packers-Lions: 33.70M). The four largest audiences this season occurred within the span of a week, with Eagles-Chiefs placing fourth at 29.03 million. CBS owns two of the four, having aired the Commanders-Cowboys game.
Excluding Thanksgiving games, Sunday’s telecast marked the first regular season NFL window to top the 30 million mark since 2014.
Ratings increased 27% and viewership 32% from coverage featuring Rams-Chiefs on FOX last year (11.9, 23.35M). The CBS national window is now averaging 24.69 million viewers for the season, ranking ahead of the equivalent game window on FOX. This season would be the first since 2007 in which the CBS national window outpaced FOX.
Earlier in the day, CBS drew an 8.6 and 16.29 million for coverage featuring Steelers-Bengals — up 17% in ratings and 19% in viewership from last year on FOX (7.4, 13.72M). Across its three Week 12 game windows, CBS grossed 88.95 million viewers. The network is now averaging 19.67 million viewers for the season, up 7% from last year and its highest average since 1998.
In other Sunday action, NBC’s Sunday Night Football (Ravens-Chargers) drew an 8.7 and 16.43 million — down 17% in ratings and 16% in viewership from Packers-Eagles last year (10.5, 19.57M) and the third-smallest SNF audience this season. The Chargers have played in two of the bottom three games.
For the third-straight week, SNF trailed its Monday night counterpart as Bears-Vikings drew a combined 9.7 and 17.73 million on ABC and ESPN — up 63% in ratings and viewership from last year on ESPN alone (Steelers-Colts: 6.0, 10.88M) and the most-watched Week 12 edition of MNF since 2009.
FOX drew a 6.8 and 13.34 million for singleheader coverage featuring either Saints-Falcons or Browns-Broncos, about even with last year on CBS (6.9, 13.13M).
