Even with national championship implications, Saturday’s #10 Oklahoma/#3 Oklahoma State blowout was down big from last year’s comparable Big 12 Championship Game.
Oklahoma State’s 34-point win earned a 3.7 overnight rating on ABC Saturday night, down 30% from last year’s comparable Big 12 Championship Game (OU/NEB: 5.3), and down 51% from the Big 12 title game in 2009 (TEX/NEB: 7.6).
Saturday’s game aired opposite the Big Ten Championship Game on FOX (4.3) and the ACC Championship Game on ESPN (1.7). The SEC Championship Game, which also had national championship implications, earned a 7.4 on CBS.
Earlier in the day, #22 Texas/#17 Baylor earned a 2.6 overnight and the #24 Southern Miss/#6 Houston Conference USA Championship Game earned a 3.1. Overnights for last year’s comparable windows were not available.
