Despite being characterized as generally irrelevant, the NFL’s Pro Bowl was easily the highest rated sporting event of the weekend.
The annual post-Super Bowl all star game drew a hefty 6.9/13 ovenright on FOX Sunday, up 35% from the 5.1 last year’s game drew on a Saturday night. This year’s game was the first Pro Bowl to air on a Sunday on broadcast television since the 2003 game, which also drew a 6.9 overnight.
The game did not help FOX much in prime-time, as preliminary numbers show only 8.9 million viewers tuned in during the final hour of the telecast. FOX did win the adults 18-49 demo during that timeslot.
