- In a move likened to the “fall of the Berlin Wall“, the Chicago Blackhawks are finally putting all 82 regular season games on local television next season. WGN and Comcast SportsNet will combine to air all Blackhawks games in high definition; WGN, airing Blackhawks games for the first time since the 1970s, will air approximately 20 games.
- For the first time in six years, the Toronto Raptors are getting a network television appearance. The Raptors, a television pariah partly because Toronto does not count in U.S. television ratings, will appear on ABC on April 13, when they play the Pistons in Detroit. Raptors/Pistons replaces the previously scheduled Cavaliers/Heat game. This marks the second national television appearance for the Raptors this season; the previous game was also against the Pistons.
- ESPN is increasing its Arena Football League coverage. ESPN360 will stream 15 AFL games this season, separate from the regular ESPN/ESPN2 slate. Meanwhile, ESPN Classic will air an AFL ‘Game of the Month’ starting this Sunday.
