- The Women’s National Championship game continued the trend of big increases for the entire Women’s NCAA Tournament. Tennessee’s victory over Stanford drew a 3.0 cable rating, up 30% from a 2.3 for Tennessee/Rutgers last year. ESPN averaged a solid 1.4 rating for the NCAA Tournament, up 40% from ’07.
- Ratings for Boston Celtics games have been up big ever since the arrival of Kevin Garnett. Through the first 69 games of the season, Comcast SportsNet New England is averaging a 3.5 rating for Celtics games, up 106% from a 1.7 last year.
- ESPN and ESPN2 averaged cable ratings of 1.4 and 0.9, respectively, for the first week of the baseball season. Two Sunday Night Baseball games were the only telecasts to draw a rating over 1.0, though some of that can be attributed to rained out broadcasts on Opening Day.
