Ratings for games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals were the highest since Versus began airing NHL games three years ago.
Versus averaged a 1.3 national rating for the first two games of the Penguins/Red Wings series, the highest average for the Stanley Cup Finals on cable since 2002. Game 1 drew a 1.2 rating on Saturday night, with Game 2 drawing a 1.3 on Monday.
To put the ratings in perspective, Game 3 of last year’s Stanley Cup Final drew a 1.1 rating on NBC.
Update: Game 2 ended as the most watched NHL telecast ever on Versus, drawing 2.5 million viewers. The game drew the second highest cable rating in the history of the network (1.9), finishing behind coverage of the 2005 Tour de France (2.1).
