A familiar voice is returning to the ESPN Radio airwaves this summer.
Six years after departing the company, Mike Golic is returning to ESPN as the co-host of a new midday radio show with his son, Mike Golic Jr., it was announced Monday. The duo inked a multiyear agreement and will anchor “The Golics” starting on Monday, Aug. 3 as part of a new weekday lineup. The program will also have a live simulcast available on the ESPN App.
Golic has worked with his son on numerous occasions over the last few years, initially beginning on ESPN Radio as part of the morning show with Trey Wingo. When Golic ended his 25-year run with ESPN in 2020, Golic Jr. co-hosted a new afternoon show with Chiney Ogwumike and later Chris Canty before leaving the network two years later.
Beginning in 2023, the Golics joined DraftKings Network for the “GoJo and Golic” show alongside host Jessie Coffield. The program ended in 2025 as the company ceased producing in-house shows.
The Golics proceeded to work for Main Street Sports Group under former ESPN executive Norby Williamson as the hosts of “Golic & Golic,” a national sports talk program airing on FanDuel Sports Network-branded RSNs ahead of regional coverage. A few months later, the company premiered “Countdown Live” hosted by former ESPN “SportsCenter” anchor Stan Verrett and also inked a partnership with The Ringer to air two podcasts. Towards the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons, the Golics left the company, as it began to wind down operations.
“Reuniting with the Mikes Golic was a tremendous opportunity for our audience,” Mike Foss, EVP and executive editor/sports news and entertainment at ESPN, said in a statement. “They’ve been building chemistry together since 1989, and it’s a joy to bring their peerless partnership back to ESPN.”
During his previous stint at ESPN, Golic Sr. was the co-host of “Mike & Mike” on the national radio network, which was also simulcast on ESPN2. In his return, Golic is moving into the timeslot that had been previously occupied by his former co-host Mike Greenberg. The midday show, which was titled “#Greeny,” featured Greenberg as a solo host working with producer Paul Hembekides.
Greenberg hosted his final radio program in January 2025, moving on from the role amid other responsibilities, including hosting “Get Up,” Sunday NFL Countdown” and the “First Draft” podcast. Clinton Yates hosted a new solo midday show in the same timeslot, but the venture ended up lasting just over a year before ESPN Radio underwent further changes. Yates, who had also been a senior writer at Andscape, is no longer working for the company.
The longtime weekend duo of Matt Jones and Myron Medcalf is moving to afternoon drive on ESPN Radio as part of the latest programming changes. Rich Eisen will remain in the 12 to 3 PM ET timeslot after moving his daily show to the ESPN direct-to-consumer platform and Disney+.
Eisen’s program joined the ESPN Radio lineup prior to the football season after being distributed by Westwood One and airing on the Audacy-owned Infinity Sports Network. Jim Rome has been hosting in Eisen’s former timeslot on Westwood One Sports (rebrand of Infinity Sports Network) since last January.
The remainder of the ESPN Radio lineup is remaining the same, beginning with “UnSportsmanLike” in morning drive featuring Evan Cohen, Michelle Smallmon and the aforementioned Canty. Freddie Coleman and Harry Douglas are continuing to host three hours in the evening, leading into Amber Wilson and Ian Fitzsimmons from 8 to 10 PM ET. Q Myers, who previously worked with Joe Fortenbaugh in the early afternoon prior to Eisen’s show joining ESPN Radio, hosts “GameNight” from 10 PM to 1 AM ET.
